Cleansing Duds

Now I've never had the urge to rush to my computer and put up a post, but there is always a first time and tonight is that time!

I am a bit of a sucker for a rave product in the beauty world and these two products are no exception. I tried  the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish from a sample I had a few months ago. Tried it once and put it to the side as I felt it wasn't anything special. Of course I would need to test it out for longer so I picked it up again and four days later I purchased the full size along with the tonic and moisturiser.

I do believe it has helped my skin somewhat (less dry mainly) and I stopped using the muslin cloths as they were too harsh for my skin but I was still left with a red blotchy appearance. This I put this down to par of the course for having sensitive skin, that was until I spoke to skincare guru Caroline from Beauty Mouth who said the Rosemary in C&P is what is leaving me with red skin (this wasn't what I had originally asked her). So stumped I had a look to see what else I had to replace C&P and since Saturday have been using Decleor Aroma Cleanse and have definitely noticed a difference in the redness on my skin. I don't think this is a bad cleanser and I am a little upset to be honest that I can't use it but it's just no good for me. I have still been using the tonic and moisturiser as they don't seem to have Rosemary in it ( I think!).

Now onto my second and possibly worst cleanser I have ever tried (and trust me there have been a few). I bought the Bioderma a few weeks ago and just couldn't wait to try it. I had heard so many fantastic things that I thought this was going to be AMAZING! Um well I was wrong...

The first time I had tried it I thought it was a little drying but you know you have to give these things a little more time. I felt the same the second time but as it took off my makeup brilliantly I decided to keep it for that reason and use my Caudalie cleansing water for...well...cleansing ( I use this at night btw). The last few nights my eyes have sore, dry and itchy but I put it down to hayfever and went and bought some eye drops today. Two hours ago I went to take my makeup off and my eyes are STILL sore and dry, I have even used the eye drops to no avail. My eyes were fine and as soon as I used the Bioderma this is what happened. NO WAY JOSE am I using that again. I have never had such a bad reaction to something and I have sensitive skin!

So the moral of the story is don't always believe the hype :D and do check out Carolines blog, she knows her stuff and isn't afraid to tell you what's what (a good thing imo!)

Sorry this is long winded but I just needed to vent! So recommendations for milk or balm cleansers please! No mineral oil, sulfats or rosemary! Not asking much huh?! Thank you muchly xx

This really has to be the longest post written. Sorry about that..

  2. Although I haven't had a bad reaction to the Liz Earle, I really don't see what warrants the hype? To me it's just a cleanser, which smells kinda gross. It does the job, but not amazingly, and I certainly wouldn't rush out and spend the money on a full size! :(

    1. I really liked it that's why I bought the full size and it has been one of the better cleansers I have used (redness aside). I think I need a miracle at this point! x

  3. Oh you poor thing - that sounds completely rotten.

I have to confess that I swear by both Liz Earle and Bioderma. At first I didn't really get the hype surrounding Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, but after really making sure I rubbed the cleanser into my skin before I washed it off, I really noticed a difference and couldn't believe how soft my skin felt. I absolutely swear by it now!

    1. The majority do love both products, I am certainly in the minority! Aside from the redness I did really like the C&P, so I am a little sad at that. The Bioderma just does not agree with me :( x

  7. I'd probably try Lush for a free from everything cleanser - speak to one of the assistants & they will help you pick the right one for your skin. I used the Angels on Bare Skin a few months ago & it was really good. I must repurchase it! x
