Lebanese Spiced Beef Kebabs with Mint Yoghurt

OK I bought the Lebanese spice in Australia and after extensive googling I still can’t find anywhere to buy it in the UK or even a close recipe. So instead either use your favourite spices, Cumin, Ground Corriander, Chilli and Garlic go well or have a go at mixing the ingredients below…

1 tsp Ground Cumin
1 tsp Ground Corriander
1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper
1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
1/4 tsp All Spice
2 cloves crushed
1 tsp Sweet Paprika
1/4 tsp Sumac
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
Pinch of Sea Salt
Big squeeze of lemon juice – this will make it more of a paste which is fine, if you do so happen to have powdered citric acid then use that.
Just omit the ingredients you can’t get. I have’t made this mix before so taking a risk posting it but these are the ingredients in the spice mix and this is how I would try an recreate it. Mix at your own risk hehe 😀
Beef – enough for the amount you are cooking for – tender enough for kebabs, rump is OK but can be chewy or ask the butcher. Cut into bite size chunks and try and keep them the same size
Veg for the skewers – I used red onion, peppers, courgettes and cherry tomatoes – chopped into small chunks
Flat breads

Mint Yoghurt Dip 

Natural or Greek Yoghurt – Approx 5 tablespoons
Small bunch of fresh Mint chopped 
Lemon juice
Splash of red wine vinegar

Mix a couple of teaspoons of the spice with the beef and some oil and marinate for 30 minutes minimum. A few hours if you have time.
Mix the ingredients for the mint yoghurt
Use either metal skewers or wooden ones that have been soaked in water for 30 minutes and skewer the meat and veg
If you don’t have a hot grill plate then the grill is fine. Cook for about 10 minutes, turning frequently until cooked

Warm up the flat bread and serve with rice or cous cous, salad and mint yoghurt
