Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I have been dying to try out Pureology* for blinking ages but for some reason I end up purchasing another brand. Mainly Naked as that's easy to pick up from Boots. So finally I have it in my hands and it's all that they say it is.

Pureology do not contain SLES or SLS (one of the reasons I was keen to try them) and I have heard nothing but good words about the products. I find with most sulfate free shampoos it takes a second wash to get any lather, sometimes if I add a touch of water to the product first it works that way. This is not a problem now as I am used to it but I do pour a little more liquid than I would normally do with a regular sulfate laden shampoo. Imagine my surprise when I squeezed out a huge dollop on first use and Pureology lathered like crazy! This is probably due to the disodium laureth sulfosuccinate. Now I don't know a huge amount about this ingredient but what I do know is it's not naturally derived, still, it is much less of an irritant than SLS/SLES but I need to research this ingredient a little more.

Due to the foam overload you only need a really small amount (conditioner too) which makes this rather expensive duo a bit more affordable. What I noticed with the shampoo is how squeaky clean my hair felt. Not in a stripped all the life out of it kind of way but more akin to a two wash shampoo. The conditioner is very lightweight and leaves my hair soft, shiny and bouncy. I also find my hair takes that little bit longer to reach the greasy stage. Sometimes it's the same night with other brands but these two keep me going into the next day. Seriously, that's saying a lot!

The only downside is the scent, it's a little too musky for me but one I am willing to forgive. Pureology will definitely be repurchased but I will probably use in conjunction with a cheaper product (need to get Jason back into my life).

Find the range from Hairtrade which sell them for quite a bit cheaper!

  1. I REALLY want to try Pureologly, I just need to make the commitment to the price of it! I tend to use mid-range shampoos that cost around £5 a bottle, so it will be at least double the price! It sounds so fabulous though!

    1. The price is a little off putting but you really only need a small amount and if you alternate it with a cheaper shampoo it won't seem so bad ;)

  2. Really want to try something from Pureology and these sound very promising. I mainly use SLS free shampoos these days and find them so much better for my hair than the mainstream variants x

  3. I had a friend who was a rep for this brand when it first launched, got lucky & given a few bottles, I've used the super smooth version. I really enjoyed the products but the one sticking point that doesn't have me repurchasing is they are part of L'Oreal
